A Season Of Change

The Coaching Carousel of Real Madrid CF, 2004-2005

A Season of Change

The 2004-05 season marked a period of significant change for Real Madrid CF, with the club undergoing a managerial merry-go-round that saw three different coaches take the helm.

José Antonio Camacho (May 25, 2004 - September 20, 2004)

The season began with José Antonio Camacho at the helm. A former defender for Real Madrid, Camacho had a brief stint as manager in the early 2000s. He returned to the club in 2004, but his second stint was cut short after just four months.

Carlo Ancelotti (September 20, 2004 - June 30, 2005)

Following Camacho's departure, Carlo Ancelotti was appointed as Real Madrid's new manager. Ancelotti, a former midfielder for AC Milan, had a reputation as one of the most promising young managers in Europe. He guided Real Madrid to a second-place finish in La Liga and a quarterfinal appearance in the Champions League.
